My father likes to say the thing about land is that they aren’t making anymore of it. Therefore, buy some. For a man of German heritage and a farmer of so many generations it seems futile to count (the surname “Bauer” means “farmer”) the sentiment makes sense. After all, it was a lack of land in his ancestral homeland that sent so many German farmers to America in the first place. They arrived when “the West” was moving ever westward, its boundary crossing an expanse of the earth “open” for the taking.
